Abstract

ABSTRACT
Human activities always modify the natural environment and cause both positive and negative effects in environment. In general there are three groups of people living both in urban and rural areas namely High, Middle and Low-income people. Middle to high income people have no problems with their houses, but the poor mostly dont have enough money for buying a house in formal market. Listening to the community may provide ways to improve the understanding about the socio-culture of the people and give bright ideas how to develop their settlement. Indigenous poor people demonstrate great ingenuity in developing their residential neighborhood, organizing the open spaces and constructting their housees. International Service Learning program is a development strategy which involves students, lecturers, local governments officers and other NGOs as well as communities. It is also a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service. Through International Service Learning program students are motivated to solve the problems; understand and consider what they can do for the community; strengthen their sense of responsibility; become more trusted and credible and combine leadership potential with compassion.
